The Voilaaa Soundsystem is a traditional soundsystem experience in its purest form. A roaving band of DJs, MCs and live sets, the project is masterminded by hyperactive Lyon-based producer Patchworks, who has appeared on labels from cities as far-flung as Paris, Berlin, London, Detroit and Melbourne.
His album On te l’avait dit, released on Favorite Recordings in 2015, took listeners on a journey to disco’s golden age of the 1970s, from Lagos to Abidjan. He delivers his rioutous, Notting Hill festival-inspired live sets in the company of DJ Freakistan, MC Pat Kalla and MC Dr. Lass. A dream team with the recipe for an afrobeat and funk cocktail, and one secret ingredient: the groove.
