At the time of writing, Kevin Boyer and his permanently evolving line-up of collaborators have yet to find an audience beyond a hardcore band of specialists. But the wider public’s loss is the lo-fi scene’s gain, and the leading figures in modern American post-punk – from Parquet Courts, to Twin Peaks and Promotomartyr – are now slowly gravitating towards TYVEK signature blend of melody and noise. As befitting a band from Detroit, the group’s latest album Live at Third Man is a ferocious work (it was even released on Third Man Records, the label run by that doyen of contemporary guitar music, Jack White).
Part-dark pop, part-aggressive punk, their multi-dimensional live show is simply impossible to resist.
