Without doubt, the Israeli electronic scene has enjoyed a period of unprecedented development in recent years. And neither can it be denied that the country’s boom is down in part to the prolific creative powers of Dori Sadovnik and Niv Arzi, the duo internationally known as Red Axes. After a succession of releases on prestigious labels – Correspondant, I’m A Cliché, Dark Entries, Disco Halal and Multi Culti, to name but five – and a wide-reaching album (The Beach Goths on Garzen Records), the duo have now teamed up with a diverse array of instrumentalists with a view to reinventing their live set.
The founders of the Beat It! evenings in Tel Aviv, Red Axes continue to play a central role in bringing Israeli electronic music to international audiences, alongside producers like Naduve, Alek Lee and Moscoman. A whole generation – united both by their creative abundance and by the influence of Red Axes – will therefore be represented by this live set, a blend of new wave, ethnic music and electronica.
