David Kennedy – a.k.a. Pearson Sound – is the co-founder of Hessle Audio; surely enough of an introduction on its own. However, despite the efforts involved in managing one of the UK’s most cutting edge labels, the artist’s journey does not end there. His debut album is an irresistible demonstration of his capacity to produce hypnotic electronic music, somewhere between bass and techno, which manages to be simultaneously cerebral and dancefloor-friendly.
Other treasures – such as his Fabriclive compilation, his remixes for Radiohead, The XX and MIA, and his contributions to Hessle Audio’s monthly radio show on Rinse FM – provide further proof of the Englishman’s knack of producing music that is as unpredictable as it is accessible.
