Portuguese sensation Mafalda first started learning the language of Shakespeare at only 5 years of age, in order to translate the lyrics of her favourite Pet Shop Boys songs. These days based in London, she currently manages Melodies International (one of the best renowned reissue labels around) and co-organises the You’re A Melody nights with Floating Points (a hit in New York, London and Berlin).
A diligent digger, she travels the world equipped with flight cases overflowing with records made for sun and sandy beaches. Skilfully stitching together soul and jazz, with an unmistakably disco thread, it’s not hard to see why Crack Magazine listed her mix for Resident Advisor as one of 2017’s best. In the DJ booth, she shares her favourite tracks with a charming openness, inviting the audience to join her on her musical wanderings, for two hours or – why not? – for life.
