Bio

Variously known as Maetrik, Mariel Ito. and Maceo Plex, the many faces of Eric Estornel faithfully reflect the artist’s diverse musical tastes. With a background that blends Cuban origins with spells living in Miami and Dallas, for many years this prolific producer has been behind some of the finest tech-house music around. With forty releases as Maetrik alone, it is hard not to be impressed by the creative dynamism that powers the American’s output. A loyal companion of Nuits Sonores, at this 16th edition he will unveil a joyous yet calculated live set, perfectly in keeping with a career that was first launched back in 1993. In August 2017, he released his first Maetrik EP in five years on Clash Lion, a label home to Daniel Watts, TERR and Shall Ocin.

Reacquainting himself with analogue textures, Eric Estornel’s latest sound is built around shadowy and abrasive techno, perfect for larger venues and original rave settings. Bursting with modular frequencies and aggressive kicks, his live set on the first night promises a packed dancefloor (and aching limbs!).
