Bio

Following his Nuits Principales set in 2016 and a memorable appearance at the Closing Party in 2017, the love affair between Nuits Sonores and Maceo Plex is stronger than ever.

Maceo Plex, real name Eric Estornel, is an American artist of Cuban heritage based in Barcelona. As befits someone of his versatility, Eric has used several different aliases over the last 15 years, including Mariel Ito., Plaex. and Maetrik. Rather than the sign of an artist spreading himself too thinly, however, these alter egos merely illustrate the multiple skills of an artist who was able to use his eclectic background as a launchpad for his career in the early 2010s. In those early days, he released a succession of works on prestigious labels, from Mothership to Cocoon, in addition to producing delightfully unpredictable remixes for the likes of Morcheeba, Max Cooper and Martin Eyerer. His hit track Vibe Your Love, released in 2011 ahead of his debut album, immediately earned him a seat at the top table of global dance music. Following Life Index (2011) and Journey to Solar (2016), Maceo Plex returned to familiar ground in 2017 with Solar, which once more showcased his love for electronica and IDM.
