Despite a career spanning nearly 30 years, I:Cube remains largely unknown to the wider public. Yet his status at the forefront of the French electronic scene has long been beyond reproach. Cited as a key influence by at least half of the country’s producers, he has always preferred to stay out of the limelight, leaving the music of his aliases to do the talking: I:Cube, Faceball 2000, Dj Ringardos, Icola and, more recently, Œil Cube. Sometimes subtle, sometimes noisy, and always intelligent, these alter egos offer him the chance to experiment with different forms of house, electronica and pop, while simultaneously exploring different artistic avenues.
Although the prolific Nicolas Chaix (as he is known to the authorities) released two maxi-discs on Versatile last year, he made precious few live appearances. To witness a live demonstration of his talents is a privileged opportunity, and one not to be missed at Nuits Sonores 2018!
