Bio

Kamaal Williams shot to recognition among jazz aficionados last year as one half of Yussef Kamaal, his thrilling side project alongside fellow Londoner Yussef Dayes. However, that success must not detract from the mark that Williams had already made on the English house scene under his pseudonym Henry Wu. With a resolutely UK style combining garage, bass, broken beat and northern soul flourishes, his broken rhythms have caught the ear of an impressive list of producers, musicians and labels. His latest imprint, MCDE, was only too happy to offer him free rein alongside co-producer Earl Jeffers. The result, a magnificent two-song EP entitled Projections, is a first-class delivery from house music heaven: part-Chicago, part-London, a little bit sunny, a little bit jazzy, and 100% ready for a party.
