Bio
Among a prolific array of producers and music groups in Amsterdam, Dollkraut stands out on a number of levels. Whether performing a DJ set or with a live band, Pascal Pinkert never loses his appetite for exploring abandoned sonic lands, subtly fusing breakbeat and pop into a sound that simultaneously draws on space synth, proto-disco and new wave.
Described by Resident Advisor as an “analogue sound wizard”, Dollkraut has been weaving his magic since 2009 on labels including Doppelschall, Charlois (a sub-label of Pinkman Records) and Permanent Vacation. He scored a career high with Schimanski’s Black Lullabies, released on The Gym, a debut album that propelled him to the forefront of the Dutch electronic scene thanks to highlights such as the eastern-inflected Zaghrouta (Part 1) and the vintage electro of Theme Of Fukoyama. Blessed with an acute cinematographic sensibility, Dollkraut draws inspiration from sources as artistically diverse as urban legends, retro pop culture and vampire stories.
