Formerly DJ for the legendary duo Drexciya, DJ Stingray has been forging his way as a solo artist since James Stinson sadly passed away in 2002. Behind the decks, Sherard Ingram has developed an electro sound – although he prefers to call it techno – that is reminiscent of DMX Krew or Helena Hauff. Delivered without fanfare, his surgically precise sets are a captivating storm of layered electric beats and drums.
Stingray’s most recent mix CD, Kern Vol. 4, released on Tresor in 2017, was deservedly lauded by press and public alike. From Dopplereffekt and Drexciya, to Silent Servant and AFX, he managed to steer clear of all the clichés in an exemplary sixty-minute mix that bridges bygone eras, while all the while sounding more futuristic than ever.
