Bio

The Italian house scene has never had an inferiority complex. And with good reason. For while other scenes around Europe may attract more media coverage, there is no richer or more interesting music than that which is produced up on the stages and down in the basements of the Apennine Peninsula. Built around an original, hot and uniquely Mediterranean vision of the dancefloor, and influenced by the rich heritage of Italo disco, the Napoli sound and Rome’s deep house scene, Italian house provides a relentless soundtrack to the nocturnal adventures of hardened revellers throughout the country.

None of this will come as news to Marvin & Guy (a.k.a. Alessandro Parlatore and Marcello Giordani). Since 2013, the Parma duo have been producing their own twist on the deep and fervent sounds that traditionally underpin the finest Italian dance music. Their classy mix of disco, tech house and cosmic synthesisers has quickly propelled them to the upper echelons of the electronic music scene alongside contemporaries such as DJ Tennis, Maceo Plex, Jennifer Cardini, the Pachanga Boys and John Talabot. Having already already produced a succession of essential releases for Hivern Discs, Correspondant, Permanent Vacation and Life & Death, in addition to creating the Life of Marvin imprint with DJ Tennis, the duo have secured their status as one of Italy’s most exciting acts. But have no fear: the two ‘Cowboys of Paradise’ – as they like to refer to themselves – show no sign of resting on their laurels now.
