Very few DJs and producers have represented the Parisian scene with the same distinction as François X. A regular at the Berghain in Berlin and the Robert Johnson in Frankfurt, as well as a resident of Paris’ mythical Concrete, his sound adeptly distils the diverse influences of the Chicago, Detroit and New York scenes. Possessing years of experience, as well as technical prowess in abundance, the Ile-de-France native has built up an enviable reputation in his home country and beyond.
Galvanised by deep analogue sounds that contrast with French touch-era saturations and rock drums, François X’s music explores a sombre and cerebral techno universe that subtly blends dub-techno, acid and minimal. The boss since 2011 of his own Dement3d imprint – boasting releases by Polar Inertia, In Aeternam Vale, Antigone and Voiski, as well as his own debut album Irregular Passion – he is also closely affiliated with Deeply Rooted, the mythical label founded by DJ Deep. His capabilities as a producer have also seen him lay down beats for prestigious labels including Marcel Dettmann Records, Taapion and Soma.
