Radian have managed to consistently reinvent themselves over the course of an 18-year career that saw them start out as electronic whizz-kids and end up as purveyors of experimental, distorted krautrock. However, what surprises us most about the Austrian trio is the unparalleled technical prowess with which they glean the impossibly low frequencies that give their music its grainy intensity. Their latest album On Dark Silent Off, released in 2016 on Thrill Jockey, is a nebulous work of jazz-rock drone that the group reproduce on stage with methodical precision and melodic verve.
