Bio

A US rap behemoth with a talent as towering as his beard is bushy, Arian Asllani is one of the biggest names on today’s US hip-hop scene. Like a resolutely indie mash-up between Kanye West and Cardi B, the man known to the music world as Action Bronson has released four albums and a generous handful of mixtapes over the course of his ten-year career.

A loyal son of his native Queens, Arian’s musical influences range from Nas to Mobb Deep’s Prodigy. Not that this larger-than-life figure is merely content to follow in the footsteps of others, however: the former chef also presents Fuck That’s Delicious, a show broadcast by Viceland in which he enthusiastically devours anything from mouthwatering burgers to fine French wines.

But don’t let yourself be fooled by appearances. Charismatic, inventive and fun-loving he may be, but Action Bronson is by no means the court jester that some would have you believe. And the proof is right there for all to hear on his latest album, Blue Chips 7000, rapturously received as one of last year’s finest releases.

With an inimitable flow that sounds as if he is continually on the verge of bursting into laughter, and seemingly limitless reserves of cutting punchlines (referencing anything from barbecues to bonsai, and often pushing the limits of good taste to breaking point), Action Bronson’s sound is underpinned by beats that throb but never grate. Extreme tracks that excite and impel in equal measure, keeping his listeners coming back for more every time. Like one of Arian’s favourite mouthwatering burgers.
