Many people have attempted to figure out Lee Gamble, trying in vein to mirror his musical meanderings through ambient, abstract, noise and jungle, and to follow his pilgrimages to PAN, Hyperdub and his own label, UIQ. Eventually, they all come to the same conclusion: it’s no use trying to understand the London native and NTS resident; the only thing for it is to let yourself be carried away by the raw and dark complexity of his music. His last album Mnestic Pressure, a mixture of club culture (drum’n’bass, dubstep, electronica and ambient) and conceptual art, was released in 2017. Another exhilerating phase in his one-man introspective crusade against binary rhythms and the dancefloor, its fragile beauty sways like flowers in the breeze.
