Born in the south of the USA, brought up in a small town in Michigan, and currently residing in London, Karen Gwyer is a well-travelled artist with a penchant for ambient music, hypnotism, lush melodies, 15-minute tracks and analogue synthesisers. Her third album Rembo, released in 2017 on Don’t Be Afraid, is a shape-shifting epic comprising nine maximalist tracks. Although none of them were composed with the dancefloor in mind, each can be said to lead the listener on a journey into a quite unique analogue trance.
