Like all the finest dark techno ambassadors, Helena Hauff’s music is a full-frontal assault. But don’t say that she didn’t warn you: the German named her Fever Ray remix the ‘Destroyer Remix’ and went on to describe it in the following terms: “I went as hard as I could, then even harder.” Blending harsh, compressed kick drums with the darkness of post punk, her first album Discreet Desires was released on Werk Discs in 2015. She has since followed it up with 2017’s Have You Been There, Have You Seen It on Ninja Tune: four vital slices of electro perfection, driven by EBM and techno flourishes, it is tinged with the unmistakable aura of a musical genius.
